About the Dice EV Lab
Read the exact expected value off the dice before the clock runs out. Each question is a dice game: reroll rules, rolling until you hit a target, the maximum or minimum of several dice, bust accumulators and backgammon-style positions. You answer with a number.
How scoring works
An answer within 3% of the exact expected value is a bullseye and scores 3 points. Within 10% scores 2. Inside the question's tolerance scores 1. Anything further out scores nothing and resets your streak.
Why quant interviews test this
Dice expected value questions are a staple of trading interviews. They check whether you can set up a recursion, condition on the first roll and keep the arithmetic straight under time pressure.
