Maven's numerical and probability assessments back to back: 50 mental maths items in 5 minutes, 30 sequences in 6 minutes, then 18 probability items in 30 minutes marked +1 for a correct answer and minus 1 for a wrong one. That last rule is the reason to sit this test, because with five options a blind guess loses money.

Format

• Negative marking on Probability and problem solving - a skip costs nothing there.
• No going back. Answer or skip, and the next item loads.
• Every sitting is generated fresh - a retake is a new paper.

Sections

• Mental maths - 50 items, 5 minutes, no negative marking. 50 items in 5 minutes. Percentages, fractions, multiplication, division, powers and averages. Six seconds an item, so read and answer, do not check.
• Sequences - 30 items, 6 minutes, no negative marking. 30 items in 6 minutes. Five terms are shown. Work out the rule and type the next term. Twelve seconds each.
• Probability and problem solving - 18 items, 30 minutes, 1 mark lost per wrong answer. 18 items in 30 minutes, five options each. +1 correct, minus 1 wrong, 0 skipped. Mostly probability and expected value, with combinatorics, statistics and a few puzzles. About 100 seconds an item.
