Two timed sections with the same marking and opposite rules about skipping: 60 arithmetic items in 6 minutes where you cannot leave a blank, then 26 sequences in 26 minutes where you can. Both mark +1 correct, -1 wrong, which makes the two halves reward different behaviour.

Format

• 2 sections · 86 items · about 32 minutes
• Negative marking: a wrong answer costs a mark, a skip costs nothing.
• No going back. Answer or skip, and the next item loads.
• Every sitting is generated fresh - a retake is a new paper.

Sections

• Maths - 60 items, 6 minutes, 1 mark lost per wrong answer. 60 arithmetic items in 6 minutes. Integers, fractions, decimals, percentages and roots, mixed. Six seconds an item, and no skipping on the real thing.
• Sequences - 26 items, 26 minutes, 1 mark lost per wrong answer. 26 sequences in 26 minutes. Six terms are shown. Work out the rule and type the next one. Skipping is allowed and under -1 marking it is often correct.
