Akuna Grid Game

The stage most candidates find strangest. Akuna's second round includes a recorded grid game: a 13-row letter matrix, one row drawn at random as the winner, and a run of timed questions asking you to price and compare wagers on it. This is a written model of the same decision - 18 items across an open board, a half-hidden board, and a section on how much of the edge you should actually take.

Format

• 3 sections · 18 items · about 18 minutes
• No negative marking - answer everything.
• No going back. Answer or skip, and the next item loads.
• Every sitting is generated fresh - a retake is a new paper.

Sections

• Open board - 6 items, 5 minutes, no negative marking. 6 items in 4 minutes 30. The whole board is visible. Price single letters and pairs, work out what wins and how often, and pick the best of four offers.
• Hidden board - 6 items, 6 minutes, no negative marking. 6 items in 6 minutes. Rows are face down, cells are blank or the board is written in a cipher. Price what you cannot fully see, and work out when a price is good whatever the board turns out to be.
• Sizing and adverse selection - 6 items, 8 minutes, no negative marking. 6 items in 7 minutes 30. Edge against variance, sizing to a risk limit, what a counterparty who knows more than you is telling you by offering, and the difference between a good bet and a good outcome.
